Hi, I’m Lori.
I help people recover from eating disorders (or prevent them in the first place). I work virtually with children, teenagers and adults who want to improve their relationship with food and exercise.
I’m a registered occupational therapist based in Toronto, Ontario and I work with clients across Canada, as well as provide consultation and psychoeducation to clients worldwide.
Occupational Therapy for Eating Disorders
While I provide psychotherapy in most of my sessions, my approach is primarily as an occupational therapist. I focus on taking therapeutic concepts and helping clients put them into practice in their lives. We co-create unique strategies that are unique and work on how to apply those skills functionally.
This can be especially important for teenagers and young adults, and those who are neurodivergent (for example, who have an autism and/or ADHD diagnosis) and have a hard time generalizing concepts to their daily lives.
I also specialize in using sensory strategies to help regulate emotions, tolerate distress, help clients understand their sensory differences and learn embodied ways to navigate eating and movement. This is especially effective for those who have not responded well to cognitive therapies, who are neurodivergent and who have experienced trauma.

FAQ

If you’d like an introductory session for yourself or your teenager, you can book a free 15-minute call. Otherwise, an Initial Session is the first session (there is also an Initial Parent(s) Session for those with a teenager). I will have a series of questions to ask you that will inform the work we do together. We’ll then agree on the frequency of sessions going forward.
-
Initial Session (1 hour): $200 CAD
Initial Parent(s) Session: (1 hour): $150 CAD (for parents of teenagers)
Follow-up sessions (50 minutes): $150 CAD
Insurance: If you have an extended benefits plan, please check your coverage for Occupational Therapy. While some insurers cover my services as Psychotherapy, please confirm with them first (my OT registration number is G2415825). If you have an autism diagnosis and live in Ontario, you can use your funding through the Ontario Autism Program for your sessions.

Therapy is a collaborative process, so you are free to stop sessions at any time. I work collaboratively with all my clients, so there will be an open dialogue regarding how you feel you’re progressing. I always hope my clients feel comfortable enough to speak with me first if they want to adjust their sessions or stop completely.

Our sessions are confidential and remain solely between us. For parents who book sessions for their teenagers, please know that what your child tells me is confidential unless they give me permission to share.
Saying that, I must report a client if they say they are planning to take their own life or harm someone else.
